How We Met

He crawled his way into my heart

12.9.2018 We met three years ago on a Saturday afternoon in December in Madison, WI. Sadie was hosting a bachelorette party for her friend Courtney – it started with brunch at CafĂ© Hollander followed by drinks at State Street Brats downtown (bringing it back to our college years). Sadie was trying to be a good party host and thought to herself ‘what brings people closer together than a game of flip cup?’ So she rounded up some pitchers of beer and found some tables laying in the back of the bar. And then all of a sudden, in walks a group of 60 people on a pub crawl, all wearing ugly Christmas sweaters. They made their way to our area and Ryan, being the gentlemen he is, immediately offered help with setting up the tables. As we started playing, Ryan and Sadie lined up across from each other and Sadie did what she does best...talk smack and throw some sass at the opposing team. 😊 Eventually the groups separated and went to different bars, but Ryan and Sadie were secretively hoping to see each other again. As fate would have it, our groups crossed paths again later in the day and Ryan asked for Sadie’s number. A week later, he called and asked her out on a date. We both decided on a casual dinner at Tex Tubb’s in Madison, but instead of dinner
we ended up drinking margarita’s and talking for 4 hours straight. It was the easiest meal that Ryan has ever skipped.

The Proposal

7,000ft Up, One Knee Down

6.26.2021 On our first day of vacation, we decided to hike the tallest mountain east of the Rockies – Black Elk Peak in Custer State Park, South Dakota. We began our journey at sunrise, taking in the cool air and calm forest. At 7,242 ft. elevation, 3.5 miles later, we arrived at the summit and took in the breathtaking views. Ryan asked Sadie to take a panoramic video of the views, while he frantically dug in his backpack to find the ring. When Sadie turned back around, she started to ask Ryan why he was on the ground, but quickly realized what he was doing and gasped with surprise!! Ryan innocently asked, “Would you want to marry me?” Not the smoothest, but better than how he asked Sadie’s dad for permission
that’s a story for another time 😉 There we were, alone at the top of this mountain, celebrating a moment held entirely between the two of us – making it the most magical, romantic start to our vacation
and the rest of our lives. We’re so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in May!
