Before meeting each other: Sadey: a beautiful, strong, independent woman. Nikolay: a lonely, unfashionable, clueless man. After meeting each other: Sadey: a beautiful, strong, independent woman. Nikolay: a lucky, fashionable, clueless man.
In July 2019, work brought us together in Mission BC where I had to not only prove myself as a capable co-worker, but I had to do everything in my power to win over the eventual love of my life, Sadey. I decided to impress her with a magic trick. This seemed to work and she eventually asked me out on our first date to the Port Moody breweries. We found out we had so much in common and had similar values in family, friends, and brewery vibes. I knew right away that Sadey was the one. Sadey, on the other hand, needed a bit more convincing. 1. She had to make sure I got along with her family and she got along with mine. This came very naturally as both our families are so welcoming, kind, and most importantly...super chill. 2. She had to make sure I got along with her friends. She needed to make sure that I really was this amazingly kind, funny, handsome, smart, handsome, cool guy that I appeared to be. Once she was ready (a full year later...) I had the privilege of meeting her friends, the "girlies". I always wondered if a group of girls like this existed, who were fun, silly, and so supportive of each other, and I learned very quickly that it does. I now consider myself part of the girlies and I wear that as a badge of honour. 3. She had to make sure we were committed to each other forreal forreal. One of our greatest adventures to date was moving to Victoria for over a year. She got a great career opportunity, I was working from home so it allowed us to show how committed we are to each other and our goals in life. We took the leap and learned how to live with each other, away from our friends and family (with many ferry trips because we missed them so much), and we found out how great it is to be together. Love overcame it all and here we are today, looking forward to continuing our life journey, together forever.
I had heard Nikolay's name a few times before meeting him in person. I had been told by my coworkers that we'd be cute together. They were right. When my manager asked me what I thought about him joining us at our new branch I remember saying, "I don't know him but I'd say he's a sweet guy". I was right. I hesitated at first. I thought there is no way there is somebody this nice and happy without a dark side. I was wrong. He really is this nice and happy. There was immediate chemistry and I was crushing the first week we worked together. At the end of the week, I had asked him out on our first date. I told my mom and friends right away..."I think I just asked my coworker out on a date." It felt like the craziest thing I've done in my life but I went for it and I'm so glad I did. After coming in hot out the gates with the first date move, I treaded lightly for the next year.. making sure this was the real deal. I learned very quickly that he was a very special person. Somebody with a sense of calmness I had never seen before. He was a good brother and son, he was smart and funny and he was so, so, nice to me. I had completely fallen in love. It was then that I started to introduce him to my friends and family and fast forward to today and he has officially stolen my title as the family favourite and I wouldn't have it any other way. My life is infinitely better with Nikolay in it, period.
We are truly thankful to bring the O'Neill and Georgiev families together with the strongest forces of all, LOVE. If you're reading this, it means you mean the world to us and we can't wait to share this special moment with you on July 22nd!
