Lamar and Sade laid eyes on each other their junior year of high school. Little did they know somethmg else was cooking in that chemistry class. They began a friendship and became very close. Lamar built up the courage to ask Sade out and got turned down three times. She insisted on just being friends. As their friendship grew, they had lost contact with each other after graduation but reconnected in the fall of 2007. After two years of dating and two children later (Malachi and Melanie) Lamar and Sade accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior in October of 2009. They planned to get married in July of 2010. However, God had other plans for them. Instead, they married December 27, 2009. Then it got real. The first two years were very challenging. Merging two cultures together was stressful and seemed impossible. Priorities was out of order and their communication skills did not exist. All they had was an idea of what marriage should look like and that was through a faulty lense. However, Jesus rescued them again. He sent two amazing men to Lamar to help disciple him. These men poured into him regularly and helped evolve Lamar as a husband. This lead to Sade being discipled by the wife of one of the men. She too began to evolve as a wife in their marriage. The main take away was to always keep Christ at the focal point. Keeping Christ at the focal point helped Lamar and Sade embrace the evolution of each other. Trials didn’t leave them to their lonesome after having a understanding of what a healthy marriage entails. It still was challenging and felt unbearable at times. Though they changed as people, their focal point never did. Now its 10 years later with two additional children ( Nylah and LJ). They continued to give 100% of their best self to each. They have a villiage to support them in their journey together. And by the grace of God they are striving everyday to love Him and each other better.
