Our engagement video session by Kevin Sullivan Films.
Sade and Jordan met in 2012 in Eau Claire, WI. Sade was in her last year at UWEC and Jordan had just graduated from there. It all happened on a night out at the ever-so-classy establishment, Shenanigans on the dance floor, of course. The vibe was industrial-cleaner smells, cheap cocktails, and sticky floors....truly a hopeless place. After that night and many weekend nights, Jordan would walk Sade home and ensure she got home safe. Jordan would visit Eau Claire on the weekends to see Sade and sometimes drive her to class. Jordan eventually asked Sade out on their first date. Jordan jokingly texted “Do you want to go to McDonald’s, Taco Bell or Buzzys?” Jordan's sarcasm was not transferring via text, and Sade asked her roommate, how to respond as she was a bit perplexed and thought he was being serious. Jordan then clarified he was indeed joking, and they had their first date at Applebees (we know, such a step up). And no they will not be playing the "Fancy Like Applebees" song. Jordan asked Sade to be his girlfriend in 2013 and the rest is history. They literally found love in a hopeless place. 🤍
One Saturday morning, Jordan said "lets grab dinner tonight and do something spontaneous. " It was fall so Jordan asked Sade to pack something warm for later in the evening. They went to Cheesecake Factory - home of Sade's favorite cheesecake. There was a wait for their table so they sat at the bar until their seats were ready, and had the whole bar to themselves. Jordan ordered his usual beer and Sade ordered her first martini. At the end of dinner Jordan told Sade to pick out her favorite cheesecake and asked the waiter to get it to go. After dinner, Jordan drove Sade to one of their favorite spots (Brewer Hill) in downtown Milwaukee, that overlooks the river and city. Jordan had a blanket, a bottle of wine and of course the cheesecake hiding in his trunk. Once they were settled at the top of the hill, and enjoying the city lights and sounds, Jordan asked Sade what her favorite and not so favorite memories were from each of the places they lived together: Eau Claire, Black River Falls, Italy, and Milwaukee. After Sade responded with her memories, Jordan said what his favorite memories were with her. He then said “there is no one I would rather share these memories with than you.” After almost finishing the wine, Jordan told Sade to crack open the cheesecake. Sade could see a piece of paper stuck in the cheesecake. She became distressed as she thought her cheesecake was ruined and she thought a receipt accidentally dropped into their cheesecake and she would not be able to enjoy it. But Sade opened the card (not receipt) and it said “Will you marry me?” Jordan was down on one knee and she said “Yes, of course!” There were lots of tears and hugs, they were shaking from excitement and from the cold river nearby. Jordan and Sade went home and celebrated with their cats and shared the news with their family and friends the next day.
Our venue is special to us as we will be getting married on the grounds where Sade's Grandpa started Chippewa Valley Music Festivals, (known as Country Fest & Rock Fest). Sade's uncle Wade has built a wedding venue on the grounds where Sade has shared many memories growing up, hanging out in the back offices with her Grandma and around the grounds with her Grandpa. 🤍
