Our story is a journey that spans over 30 tumultuous years. While our time together has been short, we feel the universe has been conspiring to bring us together for many years… Shaif: When my friends advised me to expand my horizons and start talking to people outside of NYC, I would never think it would lead me to the most amazing person I have ever met. Her first impression of me wasn’t great as I started coughing the moment I saw her and the fear of Covid scared Sabrina. *Note to self to never pop multiple mints before meeting someone in the dead of winter* Her pretty face, sweet voice, and Midwest charm, which knows no bounds, soon made me realize that my heart would no longer be mine. Fast forward a few months, I got on my knees and proposed to her on top of the city that raised her, so she could say one last goodbye. Sabrina: Minus the fear of catching covid, I was first captured by Shaif’s quick wit and undeniable humor. We talked for hours the first time we met, despite having spent multiple weeks talking on the phone prior. There never seemed to be enough time in the day, or enough stories to tell one another. In the midst of those conversations, I knew I had found the man I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. Many things have led us to taking this journey to marriage, but what attracted me most about him is his love for his family and his love for food, especially Shutki. While it hasn’t been the easiest journey to find one another, I know Allah brought him into my life when I needed him the most and I can’t wait to begin our life together. As we embark on this next chapter of our lives, we pray to Allah that He continues to bless our union and we continue to grow with one another to strengthen our deen, our relationships with our families and friends and each other.
