Sabrina graduated high school in May 2015 and immediately left her final exam to go to the Memphis airport to travel to Key West to work at Florida Sea Base for the summer. At the same time, Nate was getting ready to leave for Sea Base from Colorado, but the Mother’s Day blizzard that year delayed, delayed, delayed, and finally cancelled his flight. Little did either of them know, but fate was taking control. If Nate’s flight hadn’t been cancelled and rescheduled for the following day, he would have been working on another boat with a completely different schedule… meaning he and Sabrina would have missed the chance to work on the same boat. Fate knew they needed to get to know each other, and they ended up living, working, and leading a Boy Scout high advenure sailing program on the same boat, the Jolly 2 Rover, out of Key West, Florida. They bonded over teaching boy scouts how to sail, snorkel, and live on the Jolly 2 Rover for a week at a time. On their weekends at the base camp, they stayed up late in the “hammock village” under the dorms, talking and getting to know each other backwards and forwards. They eventually “really really liked” each other and decided to make it official. By the end of that first summer, they knew they would both be leaving to go to school, Nate in Fort Collins and Sabrina in Atlanta. They thought long and hard, and finally decided to do long distance. After four years of Skype dates, long phone calls, and visiting each other as often as possible during the school year, they moved to Colorado Springs to finally be together long term. Fast forward to today, they have bought a lovely house in Fountain, CO, have 2 dogs and a cat, and are as in love as ever. We are so excited to celebrate our love with you. We can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives together.
