Our engagement story

May 3, 2025

We were on vacation in Seattle celebrating our 4-year anniversary. It was an unforgettable vacation full of incredible views, delicious cuisines and amazing memories. We had been traveling around the Pacific Northwest for about a week and made stops at some of the most insane places - Pike's Place, Olympic National Park, Cannon Beach, even Mt. Rainier! On our actual anniversary day, we found ourselves up horrifically early (5am, yes I know I was thinking it too lol) when Kevin said "I have a surprise day planned for us!" So we were out of bed and hitting the road before the sun was up and off to the ferry that crosses Puget Sound we go. Now, was Sabrina particularly excited to be up at the ass crack of dawn? No. But she will do anything for a fun vacation memory and Kevin always makes sure to provide plenty of those. So, there we are on the ferry in the car and it's FREEZING (46 degrees and raining) and Kevin suggests we go out onto the main outer deck of the ferry. Well, Sabrina says no :) Kevin magically doesn't panic considering he was planning on asking right then and there. We make it to Bainbridge Island and get off the ferry when Kevin turns the car around and says okay back to Seattle we go. Sabrina was confused and thought they were going onto the island so she changes her mind and says okay no wait you're right it is a good idea to go to the top for the sunrise (Kevin knows this, this was his plan, he did tell her this, no she didn't listen, yes he knew this was a possibility and, yes, he planned ahead). So off to the outer deck we go and when I tell you this had to be one of the most beautiful sunrises to have ever existed, i'm not just exaggerating (ok maybe a little). The rays of sunshine were spilling onto the skyline of Seattle and the clouds cleared just enough for the warmth of the sun to cast across the water. The wind was fucking brutal but man with the view we did not care one bit about that bitter cold. We looked at the rays of sunshine for what felt like forever when Kevin says *insert something beautiful and magical because both of us blacked out and don't remember literally anything he said* and then he gets on one knee and asks "Will you marry me?" Sabrina immediately boo hoo ugly girl cries and says YES. It was perfect and everything we could've wished for and then some. Kevin secretly had flown out his sister, Michelle and her husband Donald to capture the moment so that we could have it forever (they caught the snot coming out of Sabrina's nose in 4k). Shortly after, the ferry stops moving and the captain comes on the loud speaker "WE ARE STOPPING THE FERRY BECAUSE THERE IS A POD OF ORCAS ON THE STARBOARD SIDE" and sure enough there was a pod of about 5 orcas (and orca babies) swimming along the side of the boat where we just promised our lives to one another. And thats the story on how Kevin and Sabrina got engaged and decided to throw a wedding exactly one year later since if we waited another year it would've been on a Monday and no one wants that. Fin.
