We met around 2010 in a social group setting. A bunch of us would get together to watch the football games at Smokey Bones, Happy Hour at Grace's, cookouts, and any events between. As time passed the get togethers got fewer. Fast forward to 2018, Sabrina bought her first home and texted Curtis "Hey, I'm your new neighbor". Curtis responds "Congratulation, let's go celebrate". A few days later, Curtis called to go out to celebrate, but Sabrina and her son, Mahlil, were pulling up carpet. Curtis showed up shortly after to help and the rest is history.

Christmas 2020 was different than any other for more than one reason. Covid-19 restrictions, 1st Christmas Mahlil was not home and finally the Proposal! Christmas morning was filled with organizing a few zoom meetings with Sabrina's parents, brothers and Mahlil. Gathering gifts and preparing food to bring to Curtis’s parents’ home. Behind the scenes, Curtis thought Sabrina knew the proposal was coming but wanted to make it a surprise. During the last zoom call with Mahlil, Curtis takes Sabrina’s phone and places it on the table so Mahlil could have a visual of what was about to happen. Sabrina is clueless, thinking Curtis just wanted to talk with Mahlil together via zoom. Sabrina looking to the right at the phone continuing the conversation with Mahlil, Curtis gets on one knee while taking Sabrina’s hand. Curtis begins his speech and as he pops the question “Will you grant me the honor and marry me?” pulls out the engagement ring. Sabrina was surprised and speechless, then responds “Oh Wow, Wow!” Curtis was getting nervous and responds, “What does that mean?”. Sabrina kissed and hugged Curtis and said “Of course, Yes!”
