A historic, former maximum-security prison from 1896 to 1990. It is well known as the famous filming location for The Shawshank Redemption, it features the world's tallest free-standing steel cell block (six tiers) and offers tours, paranormal, and special events.
Although we will be in the middle of Fall, Kingwood Center is a 47-acre historic estate featuring landscaped gardens, a mansion (Kingwood Hall), greenhouses, and a duck pond. Open year-round, it offers, as of 2026, the Garden Gateway visitor center, a café, and a gift shop.
The Pickwick Place is a vibrant renovated barn complex featuring a farmer's market, artisan stalls, a café, and a wedding venue. Open daily (M-Sa 9am-6pm, Su 11am-5pm), it offers local produce, handmade goods, and seasonal activities.
