Proposal Story

Flashback to January 23, 2020

Tony surprised me by proposing while we were on our family vacation at Disney World in January 2020. Unbeknownst to me, the kids were already in on the surprise and helped Tony with carrying out his plan that day. It was our 4th day visiting the parks and we had been dealing with chilly weather since we arrived in Florida. On this particular day, the weather warmed up some but now, we were dealing with rain showers off and on throughout the day. The weather had thrown a slight monkey wrench in Tony's plans as he was trying to find an opportunity to propose and not have us both soaked in the process. Despite the weather, we all enjoyed a fun-filled day, and it was now nearing time for Epcot's closing fireworks show. Thankfully the rain finally let up and we were able to find a spot with a great view by the water to watch the fireworks. As other park guests were also gathering to watch the fireworks, it quickly became crowded and difficult to hear anything other than the fireworks once the show began. I was standing cluelessly (with my back to Tony) watching and recording the fireworks on my phone when I felt a tap on my shoulder. As I turned around, there was Tony down on one knee, where he was patiently waiting for me to notice him. Apparently, he tried getting my attention by texting me his proposal speech since it would have been extremely difficult to hear him over the fireworks. Unfortunately, I never heard or noticed his text message as I was too busy recording the show on my phone. Needless to say, once I turned around and saw Tony holding a ring in his hand, the only thing I needed to hear him say at that point was "will you marry me?" The proposal played out in perfect sync (coincidentally) with the fireworks as they were going off in the background. I could not have asked for a more perfect proposal or future husband. And the rest, as they say, is history!
