Little did We Know…

May 23rd 2020

We each grew up in small town schools 24 miles apart from each other. Our friends were friends, which meant we were friends! That’s how small towns work, right? It wasn’t until Sablle moved to college did Chase realize, oh hey… she’s kinda cute! When Sablle moved to Havre in 2018 for college she passed by Chase while cruising out at the lake. She texted him “I think I just passed you!” Chase replied “Probably not! I’m out at the lake in Havre.” She replied “I know dummy, me too!” He couldn’t believe it! After that we got together often, especially when our small town friends were in town. Chase often texted Sablle “Want to go for a cruise?” But Sablle was too busy to spend a little one on one time with DeBoo. Eventually she decided to move away. When Chase found out he begged her in a restaurant she was working in “Please don’t go!” Although, Sablles pretty stubborn and chose to not listen. After Sablle moved Chase still continued to check in here & there but they drifted apart. In 2020 the week of the Pandemic Sablle moved home back to her family farm & began spending extra time with her little brothers. One day she decided to make a breakfast for them after a sleepover and posted a picture of the breakfast on her Snapchat quoting “Wife Me Up.” Chase immediately slid into her DM’s & said “did you move back home?” She hadn’t told many people she moved home & was excited he caught the hint. After confirming she was back in good ole Collins, MT Chase took his chance & replied with “that’s awesome! You’ll have to let me take ya on a date.” Sablle, laughing said “Deboo? Take me on a date, huh? Alright BET!” Chase continued to keep in touch with Sablle time to time & then a “Hey, what are you doing this weekend?” Text on Memorial Day weekend Sablle decided to break Covid Pandemic rules & sneak her way to DeBoo in Havre MT. It was just like yesterday the second we saw each other.. although this time we were a little bit shy towards one another… which is VERY unusual. The next night we went to a friends for a bonfire. One of Sablle’s old friends needed to go back to town so Sablle hopped in. On the way back to town she said to her friend “I really like Chase and that really scares me.” Why? Her friend said. Sablle replied with “He’s one of my closest friends I don’t want to risk the chances of losing him.” She replied “I think that’s the last thing you need to worry about.” Well how was she supposed to tell him with all her nerves? Immediately she knew she needed to do it in a sarcastic way, so she dug through her friends car to find anything that could possibly write… and she wrote on her hand: Back of hand “poke this” Inside of pointer finger “turn this” Knuckles “open these!” Palm “Make me your Ole Lady” When her & her friend returned to the bonfire the nerves were about to explode out of her whole body. She could barely look in his direction! He walked up to her and asked “are you ok?” She said “Yes, I need everyone to gather around! I have something to show you but they need to watch!” Everyone gathered around Sablle & Chase and Sablle showed Chase the back of her hand. He poked it, turned the finger, opened the hand and blushed from embarrassment. He shook his head yes and gave her the sweetest hug. A little while later a slow 2000’s country song turned on over the speakers under the stars & Chase walked over to Sablle giggling away with her friends, grabbed her hand & asked her to dance. During the sweet dance he looked at her & said “You kinda foo bared my plan tonight but I think this works better.” “Sablle Marie will you be my Girlfriend?” She replied with “only if you promise I don’t lose you.” He replied with the biggest smile & a giggle “You’ll never lose me Sablle.”
