Barton Springs Municipal Pool
Texas has some heat, especially in June. Want to cool down in a natural spring pool? Check out Barton Springs (or Barking Springs for a free, dog-friendly side). Note: Tops are optional at Barton Springs, even if kids are present.
Barton Creek Greenbelt
Want to have an authentic Austin experience? Go for a hike to a swimming hole along the greenbelt! Park alongside South MoPac Expressway. take the trail down to the river and jump in! If you want a longer route, you can always do the Hill of Life trail (3.3 miles) [https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/texas/hill-of-life-via-barton-creek-greenbelt-trail] or the full 14.2 mile trail. (Note: You'll need a car at each end unless you plan to uber back to the start).
Zilker Metropolitan Park
Want to get in a stroll or a work out? Check out Austin's Zilker park!
Sno-Beach
Want something to cool you down? Check out Sno-Beach to grab the greatest snow cone of your life. Don't skip on the cream -- trust us!
South Congress
Want to check out some local stores? We recommend going to South Congress to browse an array of unique Austin stores. We recommend checking out Lucy's in Disguise and the candy store before grabbing a bite to eat from Home Slice Pizza. Don't forget to grab your "I love you so much" photo on the side of Jo's Coffee Shop.
360 Bridge
The 360 Bridge is an staple Austin photo. Park along the side of the highway and hike up (~300 feet up) to take the perfect Austin photo!
Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center
Austin is known for it's wildflowers and we owe our thanks to Lady Bird Johnson! She helped Austin plant wildflowers across the city, and also created the Wildflower center. Check out this location for a relaxed, botanical garden experience.
Kayak, Canoe, or SUP Rentals
While Austin is in Texas's Hill Country, you can find most people out on the water in a kayak, canoe, or SUP (stand up paddle board).
Rainey Street
Want to check out the Austin bar scene with a more laid-back feel? Check out Rainey Street for houses (and containers!) converted into unique bar spaces.
Dirty 6th
Want to get a little roudy? Austin's 6th Street is where you want to be! Check out the bars and make sure you stay out until 2 AM. It is a right of passage to have the street shut down by cops on horseback. (PS. Don't try to pet the horses... they are officers and can come with charges for "assaulting an officer").
Broken Spoke
You can go to the iconic Broken Spoke to learn how to line-dance. They have dance lessons available from 8-9 Wednesday - Saturday followed by live music and dancin'!
The Oasis On Lake Travis
If you like sunsets, this is the place for you as it is one of the most scenic restaurants in Austin. 10/10.
Austin Mural Tour
Austin has some iconic murals. If you want to adventure around the city, capture some pictures at these different locations! PS. Did you know that my high school literally had a Willie Nelson day where the English teachers had all of us go to the library and listen to them acoustically and sing along to Willie songs? It's an Austin thing.
