Question

What is the official currency in Colombia?

Answer

The official currency in Colombia is the Colombian Peso (COP). You can exchange money at currency exchange offices, but it's often easier and more cost-effective to withdraw COP directly from an ATM.

Question

What is the climate like in Cartagena?

Answer

The weather is hot and humid in April with highs around 31–32°C (87–90°F) and lows around 25–26°C (77–79°F). Be sure to wear sunscreen and stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water—ideally from sealed bottles.

Question

What should I wear for the wedding events?

Answer

For the White Cocktail Party please wear all-white cocktail attire. For the Ceremony and Reception, the dress code is summer formal. Women, think elegant, flowy dresses or dressy jumpsuits paired with heels, wedges, or dressy sandals. Men, lightweight suits and dress shirts are ideal, along with loafers or dress shoes.

Question

Will the wedding events be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

All wedding events will be outdoors.

Question

How do I get from the airport to my hotel and other points of interest in the city?

Answer

Our wedding planning agency can arrange transportation between the airport and your hotel/Airbnb, as well as to other destinations. If you prefer to use taxis, please make sure to get them from an authorized taxi stand. For added convenience and safety, use Uber. To coordinate transportation with our agency, please send a request to executive@mcmtravelandlove.com. TYPE 1 TRANSFERS: Urban, 24-hour service, vehicle for 1 to 3 people TYPE 2 TRANSFERS: Urban 24-hour service, vehicle for 4 to 17 people

Question

Can I pay by card in Cartagena?

Answer

Yes! When shopping at commercial establishments, such as clothing stores, supermarkets, restaurants, and souvenir shops, paying with a credit card often offers a better exchange rate. Use cash only for minor purchases.

Question

Should I carry my passport with me at all times?

Answer

No. Carry another type of ID or a copy of your passport with you and leave the original document at the hotel/Airbnb.

Question

How do I handle street vendors?

Answer

You’ll come across street vendors in the historic walled city and on some beaches. They can be annoying but they are part of the local scene. If you’re not interested, politely decline and mention that you don’t carry cash. DO NOT accept free samples. If you do, they will harass you for payment forever.
