We were neighbors in the dorms our freshman year at Cal Poly, and became friends one night about halfway through the school year. Shout out to our friend Dash for bringing Scott along with him to Danica's dorm for a game-night (turned dance-party) on January 13th, 2018. We immediately 'clicked' and soon became close friends. We had 'crushes' on each other, but neither of us would admit it (of course). We would get dinner on campus together (obviously NOT a date) in addition to binge-watching Stranger Things and Rick and Morty. Scott would sometimes practice playing piano in the lobby of our dorms, and one day Danica asked to come with. Scott quickly realized this was totally winning Danica over, and invited her to every piano session that followed. By the time freshman year ended, we were hanging out nearly every day and both secretly dreading summer apart. That summer, Danica and some of her friends went on a camping trip in Lake Tahoe. Out of the blue, Scott received a call from Danica regarding her fear of bears, troubles cooking food over a campfire, sleeping on rocks, and most of all fear of bugs. She and her friends decided to leave after the first night, and despite being 3 hours out of the way, Danica convinced her friends to go to Livermore so she could have the chance to see Scott. Later that summer, Scott visited Danica in LA with our friend Spencer (under the premise of just a group of college friends catching up). We had a great time together and realized just how much we missed each other. Fall of sophomore year, we picked right back up and started hanging out nearly every day. Even though we now lived across town instead of across the hallway, we found excuses and Ubers to still be together all the time. In early December, Danica invited Scott to the Cambria Christmas lights. We got hot chocolate, enjoyed the lights, and had a delicious dinner afterwards. This time we couldn't deny that it counted as a date, and to this day we claim that as our first date ever! By chance we both were planning to attend the Snowglobe music festival for New Years Eve with our own friends from home. Despite going with our own friends, we ended up spending the entire 3 days together and having the best time ever! During the midnight countdown, both of us nearly said "I love you", but were too scared to say anything. Scott spent the next couple days back in Livermore fearing he had missed his opportunity. The next chance Scott got to see Danica, just 5 days later, he asked her to officially be his girlfriend! Her first answer was "Wut?", but she eventually said yes, and the rest is history <3
