Molly and Hunter first met in a parking garage when Hunter was auditioning for Miner Dissonance, the mixed acapella group at Mines that Molly was already part of. Molly was immediately impressed with his voice and was so nervous, she looked everywhere but his face. Little did she know, Hunter was also sweating bullets, not just from the audition, but from the girl across from him and her impeccable style. At the next acapella retreat, Molly made sure to show off her competitive side, and somehow managed not to scare Hunter off (he even egged her on). And from that moment on, their harmony wasn’t just in the music, but in everything they did together.
The months leading up to our two-year anniversary, Hunter and I decided to record a song together, "It's Been a Long, Long Time" from the Marvel franchise, as the perfect soundtrack for an anniversary slideshow. We started taking trips to downtown Golden, capturing memories on the Clear Creek bridge to include in the slideshow. When our anniversary finally arrived, Hunter planned the perfect evening. He knew the way to my heart—an incredible dinner at an amazing restaurant, filled with my favorite foods and the warmth of our love. The night was already magical, but he had one final surprise waiting. After dinner, we made our way back to the Clear Creek bridge for the last set of pictures. The moonlight shimmered on the water and we danced together in the quiet night. I laughed when Hunter suddenly knelt down, thinking it was just another one of his playful jokes. But then, he opened the ring box. In that moment, everything stood still. My heart raced, my eyes flooded with tears, and the only word I could manage was "YES!" It was the easiest, most certain answer of my life.
