Working at McDonald's, I remember watching some intro videos when I was being trained and one of them said something along the lines of, "Some people meet their best friends and even their future spouses working here!" I thought, "Yeah right! This is just a part time job to get me through college and then I'll be outta here." I couldn't be more wrong. Most of my close friendships to this day have stemmed from the people I worked with at McDonald's. If you’re reading this, it’s likely that you are one of those people who either worked with us or we met you through someone who worked with us. (I love you!) I was in the break room one day and reading a book. In comes this tall handsome guy I had noticed from time to time but never really talked to. He made a comment about the book and one thing led to another. Suddenly, we found ourselves staying hours after our shifts were over, just talking in the empty lobby that was closed for the night. When we were working together, he would come up and draw on my hand while I was taking orders. Sometimes I would write little notes on extra receipt paper and stick it in his pocket while he was making burgers. There were countless winks at each other from across the room, and we both couldn’t help smiling whenever we were near each other. The rest is history, we fell for each other and I'm so lucky that I get to love this quiet, yet thoughtful man. Getting to know him has been the highlight of my life and he is my best friend and future spouse, (just like the training video said). Thanks, McDonald’s. I guess I am lovin’ it.
