Walk through Downtown Aurora and see a show at Paramount Theatre! It's the largest regional theatre outside of the city with lots of great talent from New York and Chicago.
Start your day trip to the city exploring Lincoln Park and catch a play at Steppenwolf. They are the premier playhouse in Chicago, telling stories like no other. If you look through their ensemble list, you'll find big names from TV, Film, and more. They often do co-productions with theatre companies like Teatro Vista, to make sure they are bringing authentic story telling to the latino communities. Lincoln Park is a great place to wander through with so many options for your enjoyment.
Catch live jazz and latin jazz at Kyle's favorite speakeasy. Walk around wicker park for sights, cool shops, and yummy bites.
After wrapping up dinner for our first date at Navy Pier, we drove across town to check out a concert at Thalia Hall. Housed in the Pilsen Neighborhood, Thalia hall is surrounded by vibrant Mexican and Central American culture, food, art, shops, and events. If you are making a day trip to the city, take the green line here for a great time.
Catch a play or musical at the Goodman and see where Kyle get's to work over the summers.
As two new transplants to the city, our first date started here and ended all the way across town in Pilsen. For our engagement, Kyle took Rylie back here for the first time since that first date. They have beautiful views, great walking experience, food and bars available on the pier, pop up events, and live music that always cycle through.
If you are in Downtown Chicago, spend some time exploring art from all over the world. From the European classics, to regional world art, and contemporary exhibits, you can see it all. Warning: we have never successfully been through the whole museum — it's quite large.
Walk, walk, and walk some more. Downtown is home to this beautiful strip called the Mag Mile. Enjoy architecture, shops, bookstores, the riverwalk, and the surrounding city scape. Pro tip: download the Lyft app and rent a Divvy bike/scooter to get around, or even hop on the lake front trail.
Who doesn't love a natural history museum. Go see some dino-bones and gems. It's a highly recommended stop for every guest in Chicago.
