Luke and Rylee met one summer at a college event while Rylee was visiting home from Columbus. He came up and introduced himself after recognizing her from stories his sister Abby had told him, which caught Ry completely off guard (in the best way). What started as a brief conversation quickly turned into more. They stayed in touch through the fall, talking almost every day—often under the excuse that he was “teaching” Ry guitar (the FaceTimes lasted much longer than the lessons). Luke asked her out when she came home for Thanksgiving, they had their second date at Christmas, and by New Year’s, they made it official. After six months of long distance, Ry moved back to Flagstaff, and two years later, they’re still grateful for Abby’s intervention, their long-distance experience, and one very brave introduction.
