Train

Public Transportation (FGC / TMB)

For those interested in staying in the city of Barcelona (great hotel + AirBnB options!), we recommend you use public transport to get from the city to Sant Cugat for the ceremony and reception on Saturday. The Metro network (TMB, look for the big red "M" signs) covers more area within the city and is better for moving parallel to the coast, while the FGC network (look for the green signs!) has fewer connections within Barcelona but is necessary for accessing towns outside the city limits (e.g., across the mountain to Sant Cugat). If you're staying far from the nearest FGC station, you may need to Metro or taxi there before taking the train to Sant Cugat. For trips from Barcelona to the Monastery of Sant Cugat, we recommend you budget at least 1 hour of total travel time (including the 15-minute walk to the monastery at the end). Make sure to check the train schedule well in advance! We'll provide two buses back to the city (arriving in Plaça de Francesc Macià) at the end of the reception. For those who wish return a bit earlier, you can simply take FGC again, this time from the Valldoreix station (which is a 5 minute walk from the reception). The last train departs from this station for the city at 1:30 AM. Use the link below to view the Google Maps route planning tool, with an example trip from Plaça de Catalunya (the center of downtown Barcelona) to the Sant Cugat Centre station (the closest one to the monastery). We recommend using Google Maps for any public transport planning throughout your stay -- all train info is up-to-date!
