I met Brie during freshman year at Bethel. We started hanging out in a group of friends, many are in the wedding party. We started as friends but during the year Brie started to think that the farm kid from ND was alright. During the spring of freshman year I asked Brie out and got a resounding…sure, but don’t worry even though the sure wasn’t super convincing her smile and blushing told me that she was freaking out inside (also she told me this later). A few highlights are that we or at least I enjoy talking trash about football (how ‘bout them cowboys). We enjoy playing hockey even though Brie has to take it easy on me. I took Brie hunting for the first time and she shot a duck and goose. We have been to many UND hockey games over the years. We have been to Florida. We have had many trips between ND and MN by car and train. You are really missing out on our jam sessions, especially when we play throwback Taylor Swift. Back to the important details. On 3/15/20 we were driving through Fargo and I talked Brie into a detour to check out a bridge over the river. I am guessing you know where this is going. In my head I was losing my mind, but on the outside I was playing it cool. I grabbed my hat, gloves, and a box. We got up to the bridge over the Red River, which is between MN and ND (this way I didn’t have to pick a state). Brie decided to take a picture for her snapchat story, so we got a pic. Little did she know that while she was posting it, I had a surprise planned for her. When she turned around, I was down on a knee and proposed. Since you weren’t there, I will try to describe Brie’s reaction to you. It was a mix of many emotions, she was crying/shrieking with excitement/happy/losing her mind/possibly a few others. This time I got a resounding YES! This made up for the sure that I got 4 years prior. And now here we are Brie and I have been together for five years and will be tying the knot.
