Zach and Ashley met during their first semester of medical school in Parker, Colorado. Both new to Parker, they began attending church with a group of classmates, eventually the group got smaller until just Zach and Ashley showed up one Sunday. With no exams in the imminent future, Zach invited Ashley to brunch and the rest is history! They quickly realized how much they had in common, from waterskiing to scuba diving, it seemed like the perfect match. The difficulties of medical school became a reality, it wasn't until several months later after finishing neuroscience that Zach and Ashley picked up right where they left off. It wasn't long before Zach invited Ashley on a camping trip to Lake Powell where she met his family and the real adventure began.
Zach secretly had the whole event planned, down to the last detail. He had to work hard to keep Ashley off his trail. To pull this off, he told Ashley that they needed to dress up that evening to take family pictures during his sister's rehearsal dinner. Instead of meeting up with the family for dinner, Zach led Ashley down the beach where he stopped her in front of a cabana. Zach handed Ashley a bottle with a letter tucked inside, just as Ashley finished the letter, Zach knelt down on one knee and asked Ashley to marry him. She of course said "yes!"
Zach and Ashley took advantage of their time in colorful Colorado and in their travels: They hiked several fourteeners together, including Mts. Sneffels, Lincoln, Bross, and Cameron. They hiked through the rain to Fern Lake at Estes Park. They jeeped to the Top of the World in Moab and Govenor's Basin in Ouray. They stood on Devil's Bridge in Sedona. They waterskiied and wakeboarded through Lake Powell's canyons. They wake surfed at Lake Pleasant in late November. They snowmobiled in Vail, Colorado.
