Catie and I "officially" met on the 16th of October, 2010, however, our story actually began before that. Thanks to the fact we had mutual friends, a common High School (and the power of social media), I had been aware of Catie for a long time. Our first run-in was at the Sawdust Festival that previous August. We only met momentarily, and things didn't exactly go as I had hoped. By trying too hard to be funny(and too cool by driving my dad's car), it backfired. Safe to say, those are not the types of things that impress Catie! Still, despite embarrassing myself, I knew I liked her. Months went by, and it was not until the evening of October 16th that I would see her again. That evening my college roommate at the time and I had just started welcoming some friends over for a small get-together at our place in Orange. I had heard a rumor that Catie might be coming, but I was certain that was not the case. Then, when I least expected it, she comes walking in the front door! I welcomed her and then needed a moment to collect myself. I actually had, what I hoped would be a second chance at getting to know Catie! This time I would have to do things differently. Instead of trying to be funny and "cool", I took a deep breath and I just was myself. And it worked! We ended up talking for hours about everything. We spoke about life, our families, our hopes for the future. I learned we had a lot in common, a few differences, and had a very similar sense of humor. We both felt like we had been going through some growing pains in our own lives, and that bonded us greatly as well. Over those hours I learned that Catherine is a human being whos stunningly beautiful appearance perfectly mirrors who she is inside. As the hours got late, she had to depart as it was her father's birthday the next day, so we said goodbye and promised to see each other again soon. That evening I am pretty sure I slept with a smile on my face. When I woke up the next morning, I knew was in love with Catie.
Our favorite beach to walk our dog, Hugo, is in Crystal Cove State Park (even though dogs aren't really aloud...shh!). There are not that many people, so Hugo runs up and down the beach. I thought we were going to walk him on the beach like we normally would do around 5:00 pm. As soon as we arrived at the shore, Justin got down on one knee and I was the happiest girl in the world! When I said "yes", a photographer popped out along with a videographer! After proposing, he told me the two of us were going to dinner. Justin and his parents threw a lovely surprise engagement dinner for us and our families at Mastro's Newport Beach. As soon as I walked around the corner everyone jumped with joy. Family means so much to me and I couldn’t have asked for anything more! I love you, future Husband.
