Danielle and Nathan met through mutual friends from Mountain View, the church that Dani attended and Nate worked at, where they started their journey as friends, which they believe is the foundation to a strong marriage. After a few months of friendship, Nate finally admitted to having feelings, but those feelings were not reciprocated at the time (shhhh). The two went their separate ways, but could not get over the "what ifs" and eventually made up and started their friendship back up over a few episodes of New Girl. Since then, their bond has continued to grow stronger, as well as their connection with each other. They started dating July 22 of 2022, and within the first year of being together, they both knew that was exactly where they wanted to be forever.

On a family trip with Dani's parents, siblings, and nana, Nate was able to sneak a message in a bottle, and a whole proposal setup in his carryon to give Dani her absolute dream proposal! He wrote her a poem asking her on a sunset dinner cruise and left it in the bottle aside her bed along with rose petals. The couple enjoyed a romantic dinner on the sea together, while Dani's parents were hard at work setting up the actual proposal scene. After being swept away by waves multiple times, the set up was complete with a heart in the sand made of rose petals and candles. When the couple arrived back to shore, they went on a short beach walk right to this spot, where Nate dropped to a knee and officially executed Dani's dream proposal that she will now get to talk about for the rest of her life.
