We first met in an intro class during our freshman year at UMD. We sat near each other, not knowing a thing about the other, but quickly learned that we not only shared the same major and favorite foods but also the same name. It was cute at first, and then our professor made a joke about us getting married at the campus chapel; suddenly, we weren't laughing. Though we had strong feelings about not wanting to be married to the stranger sitting next to us, the interaction sparked a friendship that has blossomed into more than our 18/19-year-old selves would have ever imagined. From freshman late-night study sessions at McKeldin to over 10 years of best friendship and all that entails, we are now ready to tie the knot. As much as we hated that little joke back then, we couldn’t be more in love now - guess our professor was right.
May the joy of this occasion fill your hearts with happiness. May the bonds of love between us inspire you in your relationships. May you feel the warm embrace of the family and friendship during our celebration. We pray that you have safe travels as you venture to be here. We wish you comfort and rest during your stay. We pray that God provides you renewal and joy as you take part in the merriment and blesses you abundantly afterward. We thank God for you and for your generosity, encouragement, and care over the years. May our village and love grow stronger with each coming day. Amen.
