Tips for traveling to Puerto Escondido: All flights go through Mexico City from US and Tijuana Airport codes * Mexico City - MEX (AICM) * Puerto Escondido - PXM Aeromexico has the most frequent flights from US/Tijuana to Mexico City Airlines to Puerto Escondido: * Viva (vivaaerobus.com) * Volaris * Aeromexico - only 1 flight per day Taxis are fastest and easiest way to get around Puerto Escondido (no Uber available) Puerto Escondido is not a typical US tourist destination (except for a lot of surfers) so brushing up on basic Spanish is recommended.

OPTION #1 Booking using multiple airlines on same day of travel. More Work But Might Be Cheaper. Book using multiple airlines and multiple tickets. DO NOT DO THIS ONE IF ITS CONFUSING. EASIER OPTIONS BELOW. Both Tijuana and Mexico City are international airports and are SAFE. I promise. You will not have to clear customs in Mexico City if you are using multiple airlines. But you will have to get your bags and recheck in if you are booking multiple airlines on the same day of travel. Book one flight from Tijuana to Mexico City Book another flight from Mexico City to Puerto Escondido. Airlines from Tijuana to Mexico City: Viva Air Volaris Airlines Aero Mexico Airlines From Mexico City to Puerto Escondido: Viva Air Volaris Airlines Aero Mexico ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ OPTION #2 Booking using same airline for a one way ticket. You will not need to get your bags bc it’s like booking a flight from SD to Austin w a layover. Viva Air One Way Clear customs at CBX Depart 11/4 8:25am Tijuana Arrive 11/4 4:05pm Puerto Escondido *layover $151 with a carryon only (need to add a checked bag if needing one) Volaris One Way Depart 11/9 1:44pm Puerto Escondido Arrive 11/9 6:22pm Tijuana *layover Clear customs at CBX $137.69 with a carryon only (need to add a checked bag if needing one) + CBX crossing $45 round trip (don’t buy through airline OPTION #3 ***easiest Round trip using same airline. This is an example and you can find other options for flights or airlines. Volaris Round Trip w layover and w checked bag Clear customs at CBX Depart 11/5 8:30am Tijuana Arrive 11/5 3:59pm Puerto Escondido Depart 11/9 1:44pm Puerto Escondido Arrive 11/9 6:22pm Tijuana Clear customs at CBX and you’re back! $377.61 Volaris + CBX crossing (need to purchase separately bc it will not clear you with a flight to Puerto Escondido through Volaris) If you book from the US (ie San Diego airport) IT IS WAY MORE EXPENSIVE. NO ONE DOES THIS THAT TRAVELS FROM SD.
Travel Note
For your guests… Hi everyone! Flights may seem expensive to get to Puerto Escondido but they are not. Here’s the info you need: There is a safe border crossing from San Diego to Tijuana meant for US citizens to cross directly into the Tijuana International Airport. It’s totally safe! You park on the US side via CBX Parking at about $25 per day or you can park at my house and Uber (street parking at my house is safe and free! 9298 Shawn Avenue SD 92123). It’s about a 25 min uber from my house around $50 each way. You can purchase CBX border crossing directly from their site for $45. It’s $45 “round trip” for the crossing through their site. This is walking not flying. lol.
