It all started at Cisco, where, amidst routers, switches, and an unhealthy number of Webex meetings, Ryane and Jim crossed paths. The very first time Ryane heard Jim speak, he was boldly proclaiming that hot yoga was indeed a real workout. Naturally, Ryane stepped in to defend the honor of 110 degree downward dogs everywhere and, in doing so, secured her place as Jim’s forever fitness fact checker. Fast forward to a work trip in Vegas, where Ryane enthusiastically suggested setting up a table with Jim’s team. Destiny (and possibly countless vodka sodas) intervened; they never actually hung out that night. But the spark was there, and it wasn’t going out. Their first official date? Oh, just a low key dinner at Jungsik, a casual 2 star Michelin Japanese restaurant. The second? LGA's finest AMEX lounge. Because if Jim is one thing, it’s consistent in his ability to set the bar comically high. A few weeks later, after a few too many drinks, Jim made a spontaneous life choice: “Let’s send it to the Ohio State vs Michigan game!” And so, their first ever trip together was booked. There they were, cheering on the Buckeyes and beginning what would become a shared passport full of stamps and stories. After two months of dates (and several disclaimers about Jim’s dance moves), he asked Ryane to be exclusive at Laser Wolf, romantically timed in between the labneh and the lamb kebabs. Not even 24 hours later, riding the emotional high, Jim made it official official at Gabby Drebitko’s annual Christmas party. It was only fitting: the friend who introduced them, the place they both caught the flu, and the night Jim slid down a flight of stairs and bent his phone in half. But hey, at least he got the girl. From Madrid’s markets to Parisian pastries, Copenhagen’s canals to the Norwegian fjords, to the beaches of St. Thomas, Turtle Bay and Turks and Caicos, these two have eaten, adventured, and accidentally gotten lost in just about every time zone. And the journey is just beginning. Three years later, Jim got down on one knee at Wildflower Farms in upstate New York. This time, nobody slipped, and no phones were harmed in the process. Now, they’re ready to officially celebrate their future together, surrounded by family, friends, laughter, and hopefully nobody questioning hot yoga ever again.
