South is a contemporary Southern restaurant, owned by the same folks who own the venue where our wedding will take place. It is one of our all-time favorite restaurants, the food at the wedding will come from South. But if you can't get enough fried chicken or Southern food, we definitely recommend checking out this place!
We have spent many wonderful evenings at the Shoppe. We went to the Beer Shoppe on one of our first dates, where we discovered a shared love of delicious, dark beers.
Another Davis favorite, this was our go-to place for a great glass of wine. They have a fun set up where you can sample an excellent variety of wines through an electronic, self-serve pouring system.
The place for a great burger! They have multiple locations in Sacramento and Davis. We shared a delicious order of breakfast fries here on one of our first dates.
Fun place for some of Ryan's favorite, tiki drinks!
Excellent local brews from Bike Dog Brewery. Great IPAs and some awesome dark beers too.
Pay a visit to California's capitol building. There is a beautiful Christmas tree out front and lovely grounds to walk around if the weather is nice.
The beautiful homes of East Sacramento, known as the Fab 40's, have an impressive Christmas light display. A lot of fun to drive through, or park and walk with a nice cup of hot cocoa. If you've seen the movie Lady Bird, you might recognize some of this neighborhood.
Although the Napa valley is the well-known wine tasting area, Lodi is a great place for some more low-key wine tasting. And this region produces the BEST Zinfandel, Carolyn's favorite. Macchia is an excellent place for big, jammy, bold Zins.
When we lived in California, this was a favorite place to visit. Their tasting room has a nice outdoor area, and they serve an excellent selection of sparkling wine, Ryan's favorite!
A very cute, small downtown area with multiple great wine tasting rooms and fun restaurants. Some of our favorites are Berryessa Gap, Turkovich, and Preserve.
Pay a visit to the UC Davis campus, and in particular the arboretum. This was a favorite place of ours for walks and picnics. It's also where Carolyn's parents were married.
A great cocktail bar with fun, 1920s theme.
A great place for cheese, wine, and beer. Fun for a happy hour or tasting, but they have a full food menu too.
If you aren't from California and are looking for an excellent fast-food burger, look no further. We love this place so much, it is a must-visit for any trip back to California.
One of our favorite local breweries in Davis.
