Take an architecture boat tour. One of Chicago’s greatest and most satisfying attractions. Trust us, it’s worth every penny. Tours are about an hour and usually pick you up by the water just a block or two from the Renaissance hotel. There are several to choose from, but this one is probably the best (and Sean Evans from Hot Ones used to be a tour guide).
The Art Institute of Chicago. If you have time, it’s one of the greatest museums in the world with some of the most famous paintings ever made. American Gothic, Van Gogh’s The Bedroom, Nighthawks, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, Picasso’s Old Man With Guitar. Opens at 11am and is a 15 minute walk from The Renaissance.
Chicago History Museum. Not so hidden gem of Chicago just to the north of the Loop at the start of Lincoln Park. Read Devil In The White City? See it come to life with memorabilia from the World’s Fair — an event so important to Chicago that it’s represented by one of the four red stars in our city’s flag.
Lincoln Park Zoo. Grab a cup of coffee and Uber up to Lincoln Park to walk around the zoo. It’s free, and they have monkeys!
Always wanted to see Wrigley Field? Take the CTA Red Line (a block from the Renaissance) to the Addison Stop and take a photo in front of the famous sign, see statues of Ron Santo, Ernie Banks and some of the other Cubs greats.
