It was our first day in Venice and Ryan asked me what we should for the day and I told him that there's nothing really "to do", you just bop around (we had plans to go to Murano and Burano the next day). So we started walking around and popped in and out of shops. I told him there was this one spot I remembered taking a picture the first time I went to Venice during my semester studying abroad. I told Ryan it was a really beautiful spot right at the edge of the island where the gondolas were parked and you walked right through San Marco Square before getting to it. Ryan said, "Great, let's go!" We made our way there and stopped in the square to film a cool kendama trick video to add to Ryan's collection for his traveling kendama reel :) Then, after taking in the sights there, we headed to "the spot". When we got there, Ryan was walking behind me as it was a very crowded Friday afternoon. I said, "Look!" and Ryan asked, "Is this the spot?". I said, "Yup, this is the spot!" and he asked, "This is the spot?" and I said, "Yes! Look!" and he again asked, "This is the spot?" and I turned around feeling slightly frustrated (like c'mon dude, take this in, yes this is it, it's beautiful!) and he was down on one knee! I didn't even hear him ask me, I was so blown away and instead reached my arms out to put under his armpits and said "Get up! Get up!" (if you know me, you know I do not like being the center of attention or all eyes on me situations haha). I didn't even register the cheers or applause and when I finally caught my breath, I said "Yes!". It took me a little while to find my feet and the earth again. When I asked him later if he had that planned, he told me that he was carrying the ring around just waiting for the right moment and when I said it was "the spot", he decided that was it :) We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with all of you.
