We're Getting Married!

We hit it off during the process of the 73rd Dolphin Show at Northwestern. The musical was Titanic, but our relationship didn't sink! Ryan doubled as an officer onboard and an infamous gambler, and Rachel played a young, pregnant, rich lady. From there, we were inseparable.

After Rachel's graduation, we moved in together! Starting at our first apartment, we've loved sharing with each other. From Ryan's piano playing to Rachel's never-ending flow of new hobbies, all of which require a good amount of space and equipment, living together has been an opportunity to learn more about each other. Two apartments, countless self-tapes, a law school degree, and one pandemic later, we can confidently say that our biggest complaint is we still don't get enough of each other!

Picture this: It's Ryan's birthday, Winter in Chicago. Our anniversary is coming up on February 15th. As a gift, Ryan has arranged for a photo session downtown, "since we don't have any good photos together." Despite some suspicions, Rachel is fundamentally not confident that this means anything beyond a photo shoot. After about three minutes of awkward photos, Ryan got down on one knee and asked Rachel to marry him. Don't ask either of them what he said, because they both blacked out in excitement! After a long moment of emotional overwhelm, Rachel emphatically said yes. She got down on her knees as well because she didn't want Ryan to be alone on the ground! From there, they finished the shoot that had become an engagement shoot.
