I remember seeing this tan, brown haired boy walk into my third grade class as "the new kid". His name was Price and he had a coconut shaped haircut, which I thought was weird, but he seemed super funny and still pretty cute. I tried to be his friend but, in third grade boy fashion, he continually teased me. Eventually he became one of my best friends. Every year since that third grade class our friendship continued to grow. Price would ask me to be his girlfriend at least once a year and most of the time I said no, occasionally I would say yes, but he would ultimately end back in the friend-zone. Senior year however, on January 22, I decided to give it one last shot before we left for college and I said yes. Price put out his best effort and within a few weeks I was head over heels and kicking myself for not coming to my senses sooner. We began our college relationship long distance, with me at SFA and him at Louisiana Tech. We had been through many difficult situations before hand, that we came out of closer than ever, but nothing could have prepared us for what our freshman year of college had to offer. A couple of months into our freshman year Price got sick, as months went by he kept getting worse. I made my best effort to care and love him, and eventually he was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease. I then made the decision to transfer to Louisiana Tech, which turned out to be the best decisions of my life. We now how two fur babies, Layla and Groot, who we love more than anything. We have started a life here that I can not wait to continue to build as the years go by.
I have always loved the ocean and the beautiful, unique creatures in it, especially sea turtles, whale sharks, and manta rays (in that order). Knowing this, Price wanted to take me to the Georgia Aquarium, the biggest aquarium in the Western Hemisphere that contains sea turtles, whale sharks, and manta rays all in the same tank. We flew out of Dallas at 5:00 in the morning the first day of the trip so when we landed I was exhausted, but Price was adamant that we go to the aquarium before we even unpacked our bags. Once we got to the aquarium and I saw the tank for the first time I was in awe, and so grateful that I could share this moment with my best friend. After we walked around the rest of the aquarium Price insisted that we walk through the tunnel to the big tank again, and a third, and a fourth time. The fifth time through the tunnel, I saw Price go down out of the corner of my eye. At this point I thought he had tripped and fell so I turned to laugh at him and saw him down on one knee with complete nervousness and fear in his eyes. He looked at me and said "Will you marry me?" and I excitedly said yes! I asked Price why we had to circle the tunnel 5 times before he asked and he said he was waiting for the sea turtles, manta rays, and whale sharks to swim over us at the same time. My proposal could not have been more thoughtful or perfect. I am beyond happy to spend the rest of my life with someone so caring, genuine, funny, and adventurous. Price, here's to forever!
