Welcome beloved family and friends to the LaBate / Miller Wedding Weekend! We are thrilled to have you join us! We hope that you are able to relax and enjoy yourselves! We also hope that this weekend provides a great chance to experience a somewhat normal celebration once again! We have a few updates for you before arriving on Saturday afternoon: • Masks are required at the church ceremony and will be provided if you don’t have your own. Masks are not required at the reception but will also be available should you choose to wear one. • Wedding ceremony starts at 4:00pm. Doors will open to the church building at 3:40pm for guests. • Seating at church will be done by household. Households must arrive together in order to be seated together. • Please park in the lower level parking lot at church. There are stairs and an elevator available to get up to the sanctuary. • After the ceremony, we are not able to linger inside the church. Guests will be ushered out of the sanctuary and must head to the parking lot. • Vehicles may not be left overnight at the church or at the reception, so please plan a safe ride home. Uber and Lyft are available. • Finally, we are asking that you please do not post any pictures on social media from the reception or dance. Long story, if you want to know the reason why, ask us sometime afterwards and we'd love to share. Short story...Covid sucks. We just want everyone to have a great time and if you take any pictures or videos, feel free to send them our way once the event is over, as we would love to see them! We are doing all we can to ensure our celebration is safe and FUN! Thank you again for sharing this special day with us! Love, Ryan & Noel
Dear Family and Friends, We wanted to acknowledge the changing travel climate due to the coronavirus outbreak. At this time, our wedding is going forward as planned, and we’re excited to spend time with all of you. If you are no longer able or feel uncomfortable traveling or attending, we understand. Please let us know as soon as possible—no later than June 12th —so we can update our relevant vendors. We will update you if the circumstances change and are looking forward to celebrating together. Love, Ryan & Noel
If you want the long story, just ask us. As for the short version... Ryan's late wife's mom introduced us to each other. It took Ryan four months before he finally reached out to Noel. We went on our first date shortly after Christmas 2017. It lasted 3 hours. Our second date lasted 4 hours. Noel excitedly (and anxiously) met Ryan's son, Leo, in April 2018. It's a sweet, small world. Noel played basketball with Ryan's late wife way back in high school. They were kindred spirits but lost touch after going their separate ways for college. Our story is not neat and tidy. Neither of us could have planned for or imagined where we are today or the roads that got us here. But it is good. Really good. We are so thankful to have found each other and can't wait to see what the future holds. We both have seen how God's care and providence have showered us with immense hope and care in each of our situations. And we are grateful to be a part of His greater story.
Ryan, Leo and Noel were celebrating Labor Day weekend up at Noel's family cabin in Northern Minnesota. They shared the weekend with Noel's parents, siblings and nephew and niece. After finishing up dinner on Sunday evening, Ryan asked Noel if she'd like to go down to the lake. This seemed weird to Noel as it was cloudy and about to rain, and she was still cleaning up after dinner. Ryan insisted, grabbed Leo and we all walked down to the lake. My sister, Caroline, followed behind us. Also weird. Down on the beach Ryan hugged Noel and was very quiet. He pulled away and told her that Leo had something to ask her. Noel turned around and Leo earnestly asked, "Will you marry my Daddy?" Noel swears she blacked out and started crying immediately. And she turned back to Ryan where he was down on one knee with something sparkly in his hands. He said some lovely things that will forever remain between us. And Noel, without hesitation, answered, "Yes, of course!" Leo couldn't stop smiling. Noel couldn't stop crying. And Ryan just laughed and we all kept hugging. We joyfully headed back up to the cabin to share the news with our families. Oh and Caroline captured the whole event in videos and pictures!
