(Nina's Version) I remember going out to eat with my friend and her boyfriend Mike. I was single at the time and they were encouraging me to get back out there. Ryan was Mike's roommate at the time and I had initially met him in passing at previous Halloween parties and birthday get togethers in past years but did really know him. They suggested I try and get to know him. I wasn't sure about wanting to get out there and date at the time so I went home and focused on some work. The next morning I got a call from my mom, my brother had been hit by a truck on his way to work. My family was devastated. I took time off and stayed at my parents helping them work through this tough time. My first attempt to go somewhere with friends and try and heal a little I saw Ryan again. We talked but a little and got to know each other a bit but I wasn't quiet in the mood to be around a lot of people. I hung back in the room and stayed to myself for a while, kind of avoided him the rest of the evening because I had so much on my mind. Later that evening he walked up to me and quietly said "I know your brother just passed away so if you want someone to sit with and just cry, I'm here for you." It amazed me that in a room full of people he could tell I was hurting and cared enough to say something like that. We had our first kiss that night and he's been stuck with me since.
