We had been on the online dating apps. We had seen each other, but just never connected. Luckily, we both have mutual friends, in which Nicole texted inquiring about Ryan. This inquiry was then passed to another friend and Ryan was told that Nicole was interested. Ryan decided sure why not and asked Nicole out on a date in the same week. We went on a first date September 2, 2023 at Kruse and Muer in the Village of Rochester Hills. We met in the parking lot both walking in and Nicole whispered to Ryan “I’m really nervous right now,” in which Ryan replied, “No worries, let’s just have dinner!” This helped Ryan a lot to relax and to be himself. The date ended as they walked outside. Both had a nice time, but Nicole was still nervous as she scurried off and didn’t give a hug goodbye. The date wasn’t good…the date wasn’t bad…just a first date of nerves and the unknown. Ryan thought Nicole was very sweet and genuine and wanted to explore it further, so he asked her on another date, in which Nicole replied, “I was hoping you would ask!” They went out a few days later and I don’t think Ryan or Nicole knew what to expect for a second date. Nicole had brought some get to know you questions, so Ryan and Nicole were able to get to know each other better. We agreed to go out again. On Ryan’s drive home, he called his best friend Paul and said, “Oh Crap!” as his interest was peaked. A few days later they went on a third date for a quick bite and a walk in Rochester and just continued to get to know one another better. The adventure has kept going as we have been to Red Wings games, out to eat all over town, Christian worship concerts, we love going to church together, and spending time together with each other’s family and friends. We have taken day trips in Michigan together and other trips to Arizona, Utah, Virginia, DC, and Tennessee. That all sounds busy, but we also love slowing down and just spending time on the couch and talking about our days and what is going on in each other’s lives. The most important thing to not be overlooked is the Lord’s hand in all of this! The first date, Ryan was looking for someone the same, someone who always wanted to be busy, do all the things and was outgoing. That would be the safe choice, but that wouldn’t be good for Ryan. It was Nicole’s intentionality, genuineness and sweetness that captured Ryan’s attention. It was Ryan’s gentleness, joyful disposition and intentional pursuit of Nicole that made her take notice. We love that God has wired us differently, and we see that we are a great compliment for one another. We serve an amazing God, who is always working, even when we don’t see it, praise Jesus!!! Looking forward to celebrating with you May 17!
