COVID Update

Aloha family and friends, I am sure this is WAY overdue but it's been a whirlwind during this pandemic. We sent out updated postponement announcements a couple months ago. I know some of you didn't get them for some reason. I am sure USPS is overwhelmed right now. So I am just sending a follow up to that and give you what information that I do know about the wedding. First and foremost, the new date is November 16, 2021 (2 days short of being engaged for 3 years). Yes, this is a Tuesday and we are completely aware of that lol. Things are different in Maui, weddings are every day of the week and we were limited on dates. We are incredibly fortunate that all our vendors are available for our new date so it was really as simple as just changing the date and we even lucked out and got two vendors that we originally wanted but were not available our original date or second date. Trying to find all the positives! As for activities, we still plan all the same activities, they will just be switched around. They probably wont be as convenient for some but we will let you know when we pick the days for sure. We do still have over a year so there's plenty of time! I have updated the website best I can for now including our travel dates. Feel free to ask us any questions but also bear with us as this hasn't been easy for either of us. Check the FAQs on our website before reaching out! We don't know all the specifics yet except the actual wedding day. Thanks for all your patience. I know this wedding has really been stressful on a lot of you. This was never our intention but also completely out of our control.

How We Met

Sports, Beer & Flirting

Spring 2011, I was recently single and by no means looking for a new relationship. I was still living in Sacramento but visiting San Jose to visit family and friends with my boys just about every weekend. I was in town and my friend, Sara, asked me to go out to a bar to meet some new people she had met recently. I was very hesitant and not really feeling it but it's nearly impossible to say no to Sara. Plus, it was my favorite time of the year... when both the Sharks and the Giants are playing. :o) Sara and I got to Rookies and were immediately greeted by who I got to know as Big Joe. He introduced us to his buddies that were there and quickly got us some beers. We surrounded one of the bar tables and began watching sports and just enjoying some friendly conversation. I was talking to one of Joe's friends who was introduced as Red, but out of the corner of my eye, I kept making quick eye contact with their other friend. Eventually I wound up sitting next to their other friend, Ryan. He was drinking a Coors Lite which I would not let him live down. I kept making fun of him saying he was basically drinking water. The night progressed and we went our separate ways as he had somewhere to go and the rest ofus headed to the Rodeo Club to finish out the night. The next day I received a request on Words with Friends to play a game with Ryan. We eventually exchanged numbers through that. Ryan and I began texting and chatting almost every day. We would challenge each other to run every day and the conversation flowed so easily. Ryan brought a smile to my face again after a very dark time in my life. We have undoubtedly had our ups and downs but I couldn't be happier that we came out the other side stronger.

The Proposal

November 18, 2018

My oldest son, Quentin's 12th birthday... we were a bit relieved that his travel ball tournament got canceled for the weekend so we could let him decided what he wanted to do for his birthday and my mom was in town. Quentin asked if we could go to the Boardwalk. No problem. We headed over the hill and went to the Boardwalk. We hit up some rides and Quentin asked me if we could go on the beach a few times. It was November so I found this a little odd but it was his birthday so he could do whatever he wanted! We started walking on the beach and Trevor was having a hard time because he had a bit of wind burn on his face. I eventually stopped to put lotion on his face since he was crying. The next thing I knew Ryan was down on a knee, my mom was filming us and Quentin had Ryan's phone also filming us. I think it took a minute for reality to hit and then I was a hot mess crying for about 5 minutes straight. So embarrassing but I couldn't have asked for a better proposal.
