We all remember 2020, right? A small thing happened; it was called a global pandemic. No one left their houses for months, socializing ceased to exist, working from home became the norm for many, and when you did leave your house, standing 6 feet away from each other and masks were common practice. In other words, an introvert's best case scenario. For Mel this was that scenario. But even the most introverted person can get lonely, especially after moving to a new city. So what do you do when you can't meet new people without risk of catching the plague? You download a neat app called Bumble where you can meet both friends and love interests. It didn't take a lot of swipes before Ryan's profile came up. The first picture was him with a colander on his head and wielding a wok as his weapon of choice, covering half of his face. Charming, right? Some people might think a picture of that nature as the first one in a dating profile would be silly, immature, dumb even... Mel immediately swiped right. Sometimes all it takes is showing you have a sense of humor and a few pictures of a cute cat to get someone to like you. Turns out it was the right move because they ended up matching immediately, and after of few days of messaging each other and making a dinner reservation, they finally met at a Thai restaurant for a date. They spent hours driving around Reno after choking on spicy noodles and through a mutual love of various topics like music tastes, anime, video games and old obscure internet parodies on YouTube, the two formed a relationship that has now ended up here; a cheesy retelling of how they met on their Zola wedding website. If you made it this far, congrats for reading this whole thing. If it wasn't obvious enough, we're getting married and you're invited, yay! We hope to see you there and share this pretty big step in our lives together (and also be done with planning because this shit sucks)!
