Basically, adjust your usual wedding attire to be comfortable on an 85 degree July day at the lake. That being said, leave the baseball hat, jeans, and shorts at home. Google "beach formal attire" and I think you will get a vague idea. Slacks and a tucked in button down +/- a tie is acceptable, and other more creative options are welcome, too!
My favorite part of every wedding I've ever been to is the cocktail hour. Everyone's mingling, apps are being passed, and cocktails abound... So, why not make that the whole meal? We opted for this style in lieu of a formal seated dinner - that being said, there is no assigned seating. Food will start being served around 6:30, after the ceremony ends, Mark and Ryan's first dance, and first toasts. Food stations will have some rotating small plates served from 6:30 until about 8:30. Food will include 3 hot hors d'oeuvres, 3 cold, fruit display, and a bread with spread. Dessert to follow.
