How It Started

We started talking to each other in April 2017 the day before the Husker’s spring game. Naturally, being from Nebraska, we discussed Husker football and found out we would both be at the spring game the following day (SPOILER ALERT: the Huskers won). Ryan made a remark that he would be there, wearing a neon yellow shirt and to keep an eye out for him. (If you knew Ryan during this time, you would know this was in fact not a joke and part of the regular attire.) We officially started dating in May of 2017. That summer, after only talking for two months, traveled to Chicago, IL to watch Matthew and Zach Trail graduate from the University of Chicago. Two weeks later, we made the trek to Okoboji, IA for Lindsey’s family vacation where Ryan got to spend plenty of quality time with Randy. Later that year, we took the first of many trips to Colorado and discovered we both LOVED the mountains and made it an annual trip!

Our Engagement

We got engaged October 1st, 2020 in (you guessed it) Georgetown, CO. When we went to Colorado in the past, it was normally for 3 to 4 days, but this time we went an entire week and stayed in different cities. The plan was originally to go to the same mountain top we visit every time we’re there. Michael and Casey were going to be set up with cameras to get the shot. That plan was promptly thrown out as soon as we started planning what we were going to do during our week there. We took an early drive to Georgetown in the mountains and there was a beautiful lake and we were taking pictures. Ryan had planned on proposing here, but lo and behold there were fish in the lake and someone (Lindsey) kept walking up and down the lake bank to try and see the fish and get pictures. We had a scenic train ride we had scheduled, so we had to leave the lake and get back on the road. We got parked at the train station fifteen minutes early, so we walked down the bike trail and took some more pictures. In the middle of taking pictures, Ryan proposed and we’re 90% sure Lindsey said yes, but there was no one there to witness it and neither of us remember. (We’ve since confirmed she said yes).

How It’s Going

Ryan and Lindsey currently live together in Papillion, NE. We both enjoy spending time with friends and family, but equally enjoy a relaxing night in. We have three spoiled cats that keep us busy and entertained (but if you work at our apartment….no we don’t).

What’s Next?

Who knows!? We all know Ryan and Lindsey fly by the seat of their pants. The only thing planned post wedding is the honeymoon: a 14-day cruise to the Caribbean.
