Things To Do

Welcome to DC! We are so excited to have you here and hope you love our home just as much as we do. See below for some of our very favorite activities in and around the city.

U.S. Capitol Visitor Center

Washington, DC 20004

The free Capitol tour is SO much fun. Highly recommend for a nice dose of DC history.

Arlington National Cemetery

Arlington, VA

Remember our fallen heroes at the most famous and beautiful cemetery. Be sure to visit the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Somber and impactful.

Washington Monument

2 15th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20024

Reserve ahead of time to soar above DC and go up all 555 feet of the Washington Monument: https://www.nps.gov/wamo/planyourvisit/fees.htm What you need to know: There is a non-refundable $1.00 service charge per advance ticket. Tickets are released daily at 10:00 am Tickets are available 30 days in advance of the tour date. Demand for tickets far exceeds availability and in the spring, summer and fall, tickets routinely sell out immediately after being released. To increase your chances of getting tickets, create your recreation.gov account beforehand and be logged in before the tickets are released.

Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History

10th St. & Constitution Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20560

Ryan's favorite museum - especially the dinosaurs.

Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum

600 Independence Avenue Southwest, Washington, DC 20560

Lexie's favorite museum - engineering nerd :)

Georgetown

Washington, DC 20007

Such a cute area to walk around and shop! The main street to walk through is M Street NW, but the neighborhood and Dumbarton Oaks are super charming and less chaotic. We love The Sovereign for a Belgian beer.

Great Falls Park

9200 Old Dominion Drive, McLean, VA 22102

If you're wanting to see some beautiful nature, we highly recommend Great Falls! The Virginia side is a very short walk to the falls, with the Maryland side offering a longer walk through more nature and more falls! Great Falls gets crowded, so we recommend going as early as possible, enjoying the view, and then getting the heck out of there.

Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception

400 Michigan Avenue Northeast, Washington, DC 20017

Where Ryan proposed to Lexie. Be sure to check out Mary's garden. Lexie spent a lot of time here during college with her late best friend Lindsey, making this proposal spot even more special.

Brookland Pint

716 Monroe Street Northeast, Washington, DC 20017

Our first date spot - great for a visit after Mary's Garden/the Basilica.

Nationals Park

1500 South Capitol Street SE, Washington, DC 20003

Fun for a tour and a great little neighborhood nearby! The Nationals are away at the Diamondbacks for our wedding weekend, so sneak over to Navy Yard for a way less chaotic baseball vibe. We recommend The Bullpen for a beverage, or Silver Diner for delicious food.

Saint John Paul II National Shrine

3900 Harewood Road Northeast, Washington, DC 20017

If you're in the area of the Basilica and Catholic University, this is a must see! See relics of JPII and a history of his life in this beautiful museum and church.

Old Town

Alexandria, VA

Alexandria is such a cute little city! Cobblestones and brick homes galore. Explore the area and be sure to stroll along King Street down to the waterfront.

Gute Leute

800 North Glebe Road, Arlington, VA 22203

AMAZING coffee.

For all the days along the way
