For fans of "The Notebook", the movie was filmed here.
About 40 minutes from any of the Mount Pleasant hotels or Sullivans Island/IOP Airbnbs, this plantation is our personal favorite. We do recommend you only check it out if you are here a day or two early or planning an extended stay as it is a decent drive and has plenty to do while there. It is worth easily a half day.
This fort has a ton of history and is fun to explore. The beach behind the Fort is one of our favorite sunset spots too!
Downtown Charleston has many well known tourist spots. These are our favorite 4. Riley's Waterfront Park- This park features the iconic pineapple fountain and gorgeous views. It can be found at 1 Vendue Range. The Battery & White Point Gardens - Located at the end of the peninsula, there are statues with historical plaques, cannons, and a beautiful gazebo. Rainbow Row- This well known location is a collection of 13 colorful homes on East Bay Street. King Street- This street is filled with tons of fun shopping locations and great for just a casual stroll.
Ryan and Kayleigh make sure to catch sunset together somewhere local at least 3 days a week. These are their top 3 favorite spots. Alhambra Hall - This is our wedding venue so luckily you'll catch that one no matter what! Fort Moultrie - This fort is actually open for touring and is listed as another recommendation. Right behind the fort on the beach is possibly the best sunset spot in the Charleston area. There is a great view of the Arthur Ravenel Bridge and the sun sets over the harbor. Pitt Street Bridge & Pickett Park - This is a block from the wedding venue and is in fact where Ryan popped the question. The park features an old wooden bridge which used to connect Mount Pleasant to Sullivan's Island before the bridge burned leaving a partial walkway which is now frequented by walkers, fishers, and crabbers.
