How We Met

September 2010

We met at lunch in high school, one of our mutual friends introduced us. It was right before homecoming and Kalynn was looking for a date. She knew someone else (she didn't like) was going to ask her. When she saw Ryan she thought he's cute and nice, and asked her friend if she thought he would want to go to homecoming. The friend said yes, talked to Ryan, and the rest is history.

The Proposal

October 2023

On a typical weekend trip to Big Bear, Kalynn had bought a new tripod, and a new flannel for Ryan. The rest of the family seemed to have their own plans that day, so Ryan asked Kalynn if she wanted to go test out the tripod by the lake. Ryan had never walked on the bridge so he said we should go there. We walked around the lake and Ryan said we should go to a lookout spot where we had taken pictures in the past. We walked out to the spot and Ryan told Kalynn to stand in a certain place to test the new tripod. Kalynn walked to the spot and waited for Ryan to come over with the remote. Kalynn asked if it was a timer and Ryan said yes. We started to pose and Ryan said "you're perfect, and my life is perfect because of you" Kalynn looked over and he was down on one knee. Kalynn was so surprised! She said "YES," and we were engaged. When we got back to the cabin, Kalynn didn't know Ryan planned a surprise family barbecue to celebrate the engagement. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in Big Bear!
