In 2022, when Ryan was in his first semester of college, and JoElle was in her senior year of highschool, they were randomly added to an Instagram group chat. This led to JoElle looking into the profiles of all the group members (like she does best), where she then stumbled upon Ryan's profile, where he mentioned that he was going to the school that she was interested in and had already been accepted to--Texas Tech University. This is where their friendship started. From sending voice messages on Instagram to actually talking on the phone, they kept in touch for about 8 months when a crisis hit. Ryan was struggling with his sleep schedule and was having a very hard time, and JoElle--being led by God-- went over to his house to help him figure out a game plan to get back on track. As she was driving home, she drove into a hailstorm that totaled her car and so--being only 10 minutes away from his house--she ended up driving back. This is where their relationship took off. Although he had only gotten some 3-4 hours of sleep that night, he was determined to drive shaken-up JoElle back to her house to get her there safely. This was when JoElle first saw the lengths that he would go just to make her feel safe and cared for. Though before this, JoElle had already felt the sparks as soon as she arrived and met him in person. After he took her home, they met up 2 more times. It was on the third time that Ryan knew of JoElle's feelings and immediately felt the same. He saw his opportunity, and he seized it. Their first date was at a cat cafe. They officially got together on July 18th, 2023. Throughout their time together, they have faced many challenges. The Lord has been gracious to them and has had his hand over them through it all. On November 18, 2025, Ryan officially proposed to JoElle. They are beyond grateful and joyful to be able to celebrate their union in marriage with you all.
