FAQs

Question

Ceremony and Reception Dress Code

Answer

The dress code is cocktail attire. Think dresses below the knee and suit and ties. Dress to impress. Color encouraged! We kindly ask that you refrain from wearing white or colors close to white (i.e. cream, silver, or champagne). While the bride usually adores matching, May 24, 2026 may not be the day for it.

Question

Welcome Cocktails Dress Code

Answer

There isn't an official dress code for welcome cocktails. We recommend wearing something fairly nice. Think what you would wear to go out to nice dinner. The Spanish tend to have us Americans beat when it comes to dressing up and style so this will help you blend in a bit. When in Rome! Or Seville...

Question

Spanish Meal Times

Answer

The Spanish eat their meals significantly later than us Americans. Lunch is around 2:30 and dinner time tends to begin at around 9 pm (our reception dinner included!). Plan your meals accordingly. No one likes being hangry!

Question

Pick Pockets!

Answer

Beware of pick pockets! Spain is known for their extremely sneaky pick pockets. Keep your belongings close and secure at all times! Keep nothing in your back pockets and your purses zipped and in your hand.

Question

Tipping in Spain

Answer

Tipping is not common place in Spain. You're welcome to give a couple euros (in cash) to your server, but it is not required in the way it is in the US.

Question

Carrying Cash

Answer

We do recommend keeping some cash on you. The majority of places accept credit cards (make sure your card doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees!), but there is a heavier focus on paying with cash than you find in the states.

Question

Forget something?

Answer

No worries if you forgot to pack something. Sevilla has a bunch of shopping. If you put Sephora into Google Maps, it’ll bring you onto the main shopping street. If you keep walking down the street, you’ll run into Corte Inglés which is their big department store (think Macys). You should be able to get almost anything there or close by!

Question

English

Answer

The people of Sevilla are the kindest and most amazing, but English isn’t as common as in other European cities. We recommend learning some basics (think hello, please, and thank you). Here’s a link to some good ones: https://blog.rosettastone.com/102-essential-spanish-phrases-for-traveling/ No worries if you don’t learn any, you can always pull up Google Translate!

Question

The Spanish Pace of Life

Answer

The Spanish tend to move slower than us Americans. This is especially true for dining out. Make sure you plan to spend a minimum of 45 minutes when going out to eat. They won’t rush you, so you will have to explicitly request the check when you’re ready for it or you’ll wait all night for it to arrive.

Question

Weather

Answer

Sevilla should be in the 80s at the end of May with the hottest time of day between 6pm and 8pm so plan your clothing accordingly.

Question

Water

Answer

Europeans must be habitually dehydrated because they don’t appear to ever drink water? With that in mind, if you want water with a meal you must ask for it and pay for it.
