When should I RSVP by?

Answer

ASAP, especially for the boat day (see schedule). If you already told us you're coming, we are assuming you will take place in all scheduled events!

Do I need a visa to travel to St. Maarten?

Answer

Citizens of the US and the Netherlands do not need a visa to enter St. Maarten for stays under 90 days. Just bring a valid passport with at least 6 months of validity remaining.

What airport do I fly into?

Answer

The main international airport is Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) on the Dutch side. It’s well connected to the US and has connections via Amsterdam (usually with KLM or TUI).

Should I book early?

Answer

Yes! St. Maarten is a popular destination, and accommodations can fill up quickly—especially during peak season, starting in November. Book as soon as possible for best prices and availability.

Do I need to rent a car?

Answer

If you’re planning to explore the island, a rental car is helpful. For short stays and if you’re sticking to the wedding area, taxis or hotel shuttles may be enough.

What currency is used?

Answer

The official currency on the Dutch side is the caribean gulden, but US dollars are widely accepted everywhere, including hotels, restaurants, and taxis. Please make sure you always have enough cash with you, card payments and ATM's are sometimes hard to find

Where is the nearest hospital or clinic?

Answer

The nearest hospital is St. Maarten Medical Center in Cay Hill. For minor issues, there are clinics and pharmacies in Simpson Bay and Philipsburg. It’s highly recommended to have travel insurance that covers medical expenses, trip cancellation, and lost luggage.

St. Maarten offers beautiful beaches, water sports, snorkeling, catamaran tours, hiking, and great food. Popular spots include Maho Beach (for plane-watching), Orient Bay, Pinel Island, and Grand Case (on the French side). Many guests are planning to turn the wedding into a Caribbean getaway.
