Ryan & Emily met through mutual friends who invited Emily to be a part of a student ministry team, called Hangout; lead by students of the Troy University campus. On a bus ride home, from a city group in Birmingham with the team, Emily & Ryan sat near each other and hit it off. She tried to buy him a cookie and the rest was history.
You know that saying, "nothing good comes easy?" Well, I know that's what Ryan was thinking when he proposed. That morning, Ryan took Emily to breakfast before his graduation from Highlands College. After graduation, our friends asked us to go hangout in downtown Birmingham for a little while. Emily thought he might be proposing, but after two and a half hours of nothing, she got a tad bit cranky because she wanted to be home with her family. Little did she know, Ryan had a whole elaborate plan that ended up falling through. The two and a half hours was necessary because our friends and family were at home setting up the proposal and getting everything ready for Emily's graduation party. On the way home, Emily was dramatic and sad. However, she had a present from a neighbor on his back porch she was told to go and open. She walked outside to find a trunk decorated with "congrats grad." When she took the top of the trunk off, balloons popped out and when she turned around, Ryan was on his knee and asked her to marry him.
