Courtney and Ryan first met when Ryan's brother Matt and Courtney's best friend Rachel started dating. Though they had an obvious connection, they were a little hesitant to pursue each other. After a few more group get togethers, and a blessing from Matt and Rachel, they had their first date in November of 2019. After some skating on Frog Pond, they went to the White Bull Tavern and Courtney stole Ryan's heart when she got up on stage with the band and sand sang "You Shook Me All Night Long" by AC/DC. A local at the bar came up to Ryan and said "man, don't ever let this one get away", and he never did. They spent the next 3 years going on adventures and living together with Ryan's son Charlie and never looked back.

After witnessing a beautiful wedding, Ryan decided he could wait no longer. He sold the second love of his life, his motorcycle, and found the perfect ring for Courtney. He spent the next month planning out a surprise engagement, which was not easy to do because typically, Courtney made all of the plans. With a little help from her best friend Rachel, he set up a day in the coves of Johnston Rhode Island and while Rachel hid up on the cliffs with a camera, Ryan called Courtney's attention over to what looked like a piece of driftwood on the beach. It turned out to be a ring box and he got down on one knee on the shore and took Courtney by total surprise. She then got down on her knee and proposed to him and they both said yes!!
