They met at the age of 22 (Ryan) and 23 (Chanelle) during their time at University of Hawaii at Manoa through their mutual friend, Creighton. Ryan approached Chanelle first. Apparently, Ryan and Chanelle both played the trombone during high school. Their first dance song is the song Chanelle used to say I love you the first time to Ryan and it rained like it was a Korean drama. During Covid, Ryan and Chanelle were essential workers. Ryan proposed to Chanelle on Monday, July 22, 2024 at the Eiffel Tower during the sweepstakes trip Ryan won to the Paris Olympics. The wedding date November 26 is actually Ryan and Chanelle’s 6th anniversary. Cafe Julia was the venue choice because Chanelle has worked at YWCA Oahu for almost 5 years. Nakata means middle of the rice field in Japanese. Ulep means cloud in Ilocano. The couple has traveled to Japan, Vietnam, Philippines, Taiwan, China, South Korea, and France. Honeymoon will be in Las Vegas. Ryan wants a son, Chanelle wants two kids.
