Becca and Ryan first matched on Hinge in March 2021. They exchanged a few friendly messages, but never got around to planning a date. At the time, Ryan decided to delete all of his dating apps, in the hopes that he would meet someone organically instead. Becca just assumed that Ryan had ghosted her, which to be fair, he kind of did. A month later in April 2021, they both ended up at some random party, each invited through very loose connections. Becca was there because one of her friends knew the hosts, and Ryan was only there because one of the guys throwing the party happened to be his fraternity brother's cousin. And so lucky for Ryan and Becca, they were both dragged to this party by their friends barely knowing who was going to be there. Ryan recognized Becca from Hinge immediately but Becca of course had to play it cool and pretend she had no idea who Ryan was (being ghosted earns you that right). They kept making eye contact throughout the party but neither of them said hi to each other right away. Finally, after some liquid courage (and after seeing Becca's dance moves to Crazy Frog by Axel F) Ryan introduced himself to Becca and asked her on a date the following week. Their first date was at The Spaniard in the West Village - a spot that is now known for its crowded bar scene and not where one would go for a first date - but they still had the most amazing time. When we don't feel like telling the whole story, we usually just say we met at a mutual friend's party. But now you know the long story, and it's way better than the short story!
