It all started in 2007 while we were both freshmen in high school. We hadn't talked much when RJ asked me to our first homecoming dance and we were both nervous to say the least. He seemed like a stand up guy, so I said "Yes!". We went to the dance with a group of our friends and ended up at a bonfire afterwards. At the bonfire, RJ decided to ask me to be his girlfriend privately behind the giant pine tree, and again I said "Yes!". Well...the rest is history. Fast forward through the years--we graduated high school, grew together, I went off to college and RJ joined the military becoming a U.S. Marine and went through two deployments. Those four years that RJ was active duty and we were long distance were some of the hardest, but at the end of the day we always had each other. We had our ups and downs but our love for each other was constant through any struggles we faced. On May 25th, 2019, after almost 12 years together, I was under the impression I was going to a birthday dinner with two of my best friends but RJ had other plans. At the Journeyman in Milwaukee, RJ got down on one knee and asked me to make him the luckiest man alive and marry him in which I said "Yes!" (just like 12 years ago when he first asked me to the homecoming dance). And now we can't wait to celebrate our love with all of you and finally become husband and wife!
