We started our love story in August of 2019 when we met "through mutual friends" (if you know, you know). I (Amber) actually set my sights out on Ryan first. I approached him once, trying to get a conversation started. Ryan said one word back and left. What a start of a love story, huh? Well, the next day, Ryan "slid into my DM's" as the kids say, and really, the rest is history! Our first date was dinner at a Mexican restaurant. Ryan will (begrudgingly) admit that he was having such a good time that he wanted the date to continue. He chose the activity of "Tour de Beaver County" where we literally drove around Beaver County since I was newer to the area. The most memorable (and adorable) part of the date was driving past Geneva College where Ryan said, "Look! That's your future school!" I had recently applied to grad school during this time and had not found out if I was accepted yet, so that support and belief in me earned Ryan a big gold star in my mind for our first date. The start of the relationship definitely had its ups and downs. Ryan tried to tell me he loved me twice. I ran away - twice! We worked through that and a couple other challenges life threw at us, and in 2022, we officially moved in together. Now, the moment you have all been waiting for - the proposal. Ryan did an incredible job of tricking me (with the help of my best friend) and totally surprised me on my birthday. We went to our favorite restaurant, Kaufman Tavern, for dinner. During dinner, Ryan offered to take a birthday selfie, which OBVIOUSLY excited me since he's not big on pictures. He said, "let's not take one in the restaurant since we have one here already" and we planned to walk around after dinner to find a good spot. Ryan "just so happened" to spot a gazebo and led me there to "take our selfie". While we were walking, Ryan started saying SUPER nice things (suspicious), and when we got to the gazebo, he dropped to one knee and proposed! I was shocked and surprised, but not too much to remind him he had to put the ring on my finger! Ryan also got a lot of brownie points for hiring a professional photographer to capture it all. Since then, we've found the things we like to do together to celebrate, unwind, and have fun. We enjoy travelling to new places together (and would love to keep doing that more), hiking, trying new foods, playing board games, and having pizza and movie date nights. We really just enjoy doing anything, as long as we’re together. I've even convinced him to go to a few concerts with me! We're both excited to see what the future holds for us and what new things we find to keep growing together.
